A unique opportunity for children to develop confidence in a nurturing, non-threatening and fun atmosphere.
This program funded in part by the Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation, Romano Bros., A.R.T. League, The Optimists Club of Wilmette, the City of Evanston Cultural Affairs Division and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
What it is
A one-week Workshop where students learn singing, dancing and acting in preparation for a public performance on Saturday. Four separate one-week workshops are offered in 2008, each based on a hit musical. Students may attend more than one workshop.
Who can attend
Young people age 8 to 16, who want to learn musical theater from professional actors and counselors. No experience or audition is required, and every child gets a part. Students must be 8 years old by the first day of the Workshop and should be able to read at the 3rd grade reading level.
Schedule
Each Workshop is Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The final dress rehearsal is Saturday at 1 pm, with the public performance at 4 pm.
Location
Saturday performances are at McGaw YMCA Children’s Center Auditorium, 1420 Maple Avenue in Evanston.
Class size
Space is limited to 40 students for each Workshop, so please
register immediately.
Cost
Fee is $340 per student per Workshop, due with enrollment.
Fee is refundable (less $25 processing fee) if cancellation is
received in writing by June 3, 2008. No refunds after June 3.
