What it is
A one-week workshop where students learn singing, dancing and acting in preparation for a public performance on Saturday. Five separate one-week workshops are offered in 2012, each based on a hit musical. Students may attend more than one workshop.

 

Who can attend
Young people age 8 to 13, who want to learn musical theater from professional actors and counselors. No experience or audition is required, and every child gets a part. Students must be 8 years old by the first day of the workshop and should be able to read at the 3rd grade reading level.

 

Schedule
Each workshop is Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. The final dress rehearsal is Saturday at 1 pm, with the public performance at 4 pm.

 

Location

Classes are at the new air-conditioned Light Opera Works

rehearsal center at 516 4th Street in Wilmette.

 

Saturday performances are at McGaw YMCA Children’s Center Auditorium (Light Opera Works Second Stage), 1420 Maple Avenue in Evanston.

 

Class size
Space is limited to 40 students for each workshop

(20 for "Stage Struck" advanced session), so please

register now to avoid disappointment.

 

Cost

Fee is $350 per student per workshop, due with enrollment. 

 

"Stage Struck" advanced workshop is $450 per student,

of which $100 deposit is due with enrollment, and

balance of $350 is due upon acceptance after audition.

(Deposit will be refunded if student is not accepted.)


Fee is refundable (less $25 processing fee) if cancellation is
received in writing by June 1, 2012. No refunds after June 1. 

 

 

New "Stage Struck"

advanced workshop for teens 12-15

August 1-11, 2012

 

$450 per student

($100 deposit due with enrollment;

$350 balance due upon acceptance after audition.

Deposit will be refunded if student is not accepted.)

 

A 10-day workshop for ages 12-15, who want to delve further into musical theater. Learn audition techniques, scene study, music theory and more. The final performance will be a revue of songs on a specific theme, with introductions written and performed by students themselves. Space is limited to 20 students, and an audition is required for acceptance. We will contact you to schedule an audition after you register.

 

Schedule

Classes are Monday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Saturday, August 4, 10 am to 2 pm. Final dress rehearsal is Saturday, August 11, at 1 pm, with the public performance at 4 pm.
